Doctor blades for coating and printing processes

Doctor Blade

We supply 11 metal types and 4 plastic series so that the blade can be selected to match the ink and cylinder conditions. The range runs from 580 Hv steel to ceramic with a surface hardness of 1,000 Hv, and includes specialty products for rust prevention, streak-contamination control, and long-run printing.

Overview

A doctor blade lineup organized by material and surface treatment

We supply doctor blades for coating and printing processes in 11 metal types and 4 plastic series. Hardness and surface film are selected according to ink type, cylinder conditions, and print run length.

Lineup

Metal doctor blades

Steel doctor blade580~600HvA basic model long in widespread use. Craftsmen produce it on proprietary grinding machines, and the blade edge in particular receives proprietary machining built on years of experience and know-how.
Gold doctor blade620HvUses the latest premium steel with a high content of wear-resistant components compared with ordinary Swedish steel. Highly durable, with good contact against the cylinder.
R-ST doctor blade (streak-contamination control for process inks)580~600HvA top-quality steel doctor blade whose edge receives proprietary special grinding. Highly effective against streak contamination in light halftone areas.
Stainless steel doctor blade590HvMade from Swedish stainless special alloy steel for high durability and corrosion resistance. It handles demanding printing conditions involving water-based or acidic inks.
Ink-splash prevention doctor blade580~600HvA product built on an original new idea. It reduces wear at the cylinder edge, making it ideal for long print runs without changing the doctor blade. Produced to customer order.
Doctor blade for black ink580~600HvUses high-quality Swedish steel with precision-ground edge for excellent cutting performance. It effectively reduces the print contamination that commonly occurs with black ink.
Ceramic doctor bladeSurface hardness 800–850 Hv / 850–900 Hv (standard surface hardness) / 900–950 Hv / 950–1,000 HvA high-quality product developed by combining proprietary grinding and surface technologies. Film adhesion and wear resistance are markedly improved over previous products.
Root doctor bladeSurface hardness 800–850 Hv / 850–900 Hv (standard surface hardness) / 900–950 HvThe surface film uses a highly lubricating component to pursue smooth running and cutting performance. Particularly suited to water-based inks, with a white-only type also available.
Soft doctor bladeSurface hardness 650–700 Hv (standard surface hardness) / 700–750 Hv / 750–800 HvA thinner surface film coating gives low hardness while retaining wear resistance. It reduces damage to the cylinder.
Nickel alloy doctor bladeSurface hardness 600–650 Hv / 650–700 Hv (standard surface hardness)Coated with a special nickel alloy film. The low-hardness surface film delivers a strong anti-corrosion effect.
Backup blade—The backup blade is also an important factor in getting the best from a doctor blade. A range of sizes is available.
